The Silly Season

Christmas is the silly season. There is no doubt about it. Life is too hectic to get a grip of anything that is happening.... so thank goodness for cheap Chinese takeaway stores in Pitt Street Mall.

On a more serious note - the whirlwind that is Christmas has been frantic. Buying Presents, Preparing Church stuff - I am involved in the puppet show for our kids Christmas Eve service, Preparing for beachmission, Finishing work for the year, and getting sucked in and narrowly escaping a financial scam... but thats a long story.

It's funny how Christmas is always seen as the relax time with family and friends, in celebration of the saviour's coming... but the reality is simply that we become stress heads in the rush to get everything done, and fret about the small details of wrapping 80 presents before friday.
It's as frustrating as trying to find the West Indies/ Bahamas on the map of Western Asia...

Have a stress free Christmas all, enjoy this time. And celebrate our Saviour, entering the world to fulfill the great plans of his father.

you know i was thinking. i read somewhere that jesus' birthday isn't actually on the 25th of december. so if it being the 25th december means that i have to sit down especially with my church to remember what it meant when jesus came to the world then wouldn't this all be a complete farce if that day, in itself, was nothing but a manifestation of that damn danish volunteer worker and that poet that solidified his place in history? besides, why should one particular day stand out as any different from my eternal, daily, hourly, minutely, secondly gratitude, appreciation and thankfulness of the mercy that was christ in everyday of his life and of god in that the word existed from the beginning- before a 'time' (which did not exist in the beginning) then maybe a gratefullness that should go beyond the day when the saviour was born and to a time when there was no time....

...wait, i'm confused. but i know what i mean in my head.

Christmas was created by the catholic church because they decided they needed more holidays in order to keep the christans happy, and also to amalgamate some of the subdued subfaction's " religious days into their own ".

As much as I disagree with the method, why not take a day to remember the day that God's plan of reconciliation began? 25th of Dec is as good a day as any for mine.
